About Sensei dai Earl Powell

Earl Powell started his Martial Arts training in Judo in High school and continued training briefly in the military. Injuries curtailed his training until the mid-seventies when he re-started his Judo training under Dr. Jacob Lam in Nashua, N.H. for 2 years. Mr Powell joined the Hollis Karate club in June of 1994.  He received his First degree black belt in October of 1999.  Mr Powell currently holds the rank of Sandan in Shorin Ryu Karate-do, Shodan in Tenzan Karate-do, Nidan in Zenkoku Ryukyu Kobujutsu (traditional Okinawan weaponry) and is pursuing his black belt in Goju Ryu Karate-do

Mr. Powell is fortunate to have started his Karate training under the tutelage of the former Director of the SVKC - Shihan Robert Fleck and Former Co-Director Shihan Marty Kale.  He is the first student to have gone from white belt to black belt under these two fine teachers.  He holds the teaching rank of Sensei Dai and is the Director/Head Instructor of the SVKC, a non-profit organization sponsored by the town of Brookline, N.H. recreation department.  The club is a certified, licensed Ryu-Ha martial arts school, requiring maintenance of very high standards. The club offers instruction in Shorin Ryu, Goju Ryu, and Kobudo.
